CCTV Demand by Smart City Project

01
Dhaka Safe City Project
The Dhaka Safe City project led by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police is valued at more than $120 million and includes installation of over 8,000 CCTV cameras. Huawei secured phase one from 2019 to 2022, while the second expansion phase for 2025 to 2027 is expected to add stronger AI analytics functions. Korean firms can target software supply for AI-based video analytics.
02
Chittagong Port Security System
The Chittagong Port Authority is advancing a $15 million CCTV upgrade to strengthen port security. The project requires high-specification cameras for 4K imaging, night surveillance, container number recognition through OCR, and vessel monitoring. Korea Hanwha Vision's marine-focused camera lineup could be competitive in this segment.
03
Bangabandhu Industrial City Integrated Security
Bangabandhu Industrial City is building an integrated security system across a 100 square kilometer area. The scheme includes more than 5,000 CCTV units, a PSIM-based integrated control center, access control, and vehicle recognition. Backed by ADB financing, it is expected to move through international tendering. Korean companies may have an edge with integrated control solutions.
04
Mandatory Security in Garment Factories
BGMEA is pushing member factories to install CCTV systems. With roughly 4,000 garment factories and an average of 20 to 50 cameras per site, the market could generate demand for well above 100,000 additional units. Buyers are looking for fire detection, worker safety, and theft prevention functions, but price sensitivity remains high, making mid-range IP cameras a practical fit.

Bangladesh's CCTV market is a high-growth security segment valued at more than $250 million and expanding at 18 to 22 percent annually. Chinese suppliers still dominate with a 75 percent share, but Korean companies have a meaningful differentiation point in AI video analytics and integrated control platforms.
