Overview of ACR Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle Public Procurement
The Bangladesh Army procures ACRs (Armored Combat Reconnaissance vehicles) for battlefield reconnaissance and security missions through the PMS public procurement framework and G2G channels. These vehicles are light armored platforms used for forward scouting, perimeter security, flank protection, and counter-guerrilla operations within armored formations.
With an active force of roughly 160,000 personnel, the Bangladesh Army operates two armored divisions and multiple independent armored regiments. Much of its existing fleet, including Chinese Type 62 and Type 69 platforms and British FV601 vehicles, is aging, and modernization under Forces Goal 2030 is accelerating. Annual ACR demand is estimated at 10 to 30 units, with unit prices around USD 1 million to USD 3 million depending on configuration. Korean suppliers such as Korea Hanwha and Korea Rotem can reasonably target this segment.
Technical Specifications and Procurement Requirements
ACR vehicles must combine high mobility, adequate protection, reconnaissance and surveillance systems, and onboard firepower for forward screening missions. The Bangladesh Army tends to favor light reconnaissance platforms in 4x4 or 6x6 configuration, with particular emphasis on mobility in delta and wetland terrain.

Bangladesh Armored Force Modernization Context
Bangladesh remains heavily dependent on Chinese armored equipment, but its diversification policy is opening more room for defense cooperation with Turkey, Russia, and Korea. Replacement of the outdated British FV601 reconnaissance fleet is particularly urgent, and the Army is understood to be planning for more than 100 modern ACR platforms. Given Bangladesh's delta, wetland, and river-heavy geography, amphibious mobility and lighter vehicle design are material evaluation factors.
Bid Strategy for Korean Defense Suppliers
ACR procurement is emerging as a core element of Bangladesh Army armored-force modernization, with plans for more than 100 new reconnaissance vehicles under Forces Goal 2030. Because Bangladesh is actively diversifying away from an overwhelming dependence on Chinese suppliers, the market is more open than before to alternative defense partners. A Korean offer that combines a K808-based reconnaissance platform, G2G engagement, technology transfer, and local assembly would present a differentiated and credible pathway against Chinese and Turkish competition.
