WCE 2025 Climate Industry Expo: Analysis of the Green Energy Business Consultation

Overview of WCE 2025

WCE (World Climate Expo) is an international exhibition dedicated to the climate industry, serving as a global platform that covers carbon-neutral technologies, renewable energy, green mobility, the circular economy, and climate adaptation solutions. The 2025 edition is expected to host more than 500 companies, alongside an export consultation program focused on green energy.

Bangladesh is one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change, facing rising demand for climate technologies and green energy solutions to address sea-level rise, cyclones, and flooding. Many of the technologies and solutions showcased at WCE 2025 are directly relevant to Bangladesh's climate adaptation agenda and energy transition strategy.

Bangladesh's Climate Response Demand

Bangladesh ranks seventh globally on the Climate Risk Index and suffers annual economic losses equivalent to 2-3% of GDP from sea-level rise, cyclones, floods, and drought. The government has set targets including a 22% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and an expansion of renewable energy to 40% by 2041. Achieving these goals will require more than $5 billion in climate investment each year.

Market Entry Strategies for Korean Companies

01
Link Projects to Climate ODA Using KOICA and EDCF
Korean companies can participate in climate projects in Bangladesh by leveraging Korea's annual climate ODA budget of more than $1 billion. Solar plants, early warning systems, and water treatment facilities can be developed through ODA frameworks, while Korean firms supply EPC services and equipment. WCE provides dedicated sessions on ODA-linked project opportunities.
02
Export Solar and ESS Packages
Bangladesh's solar market, with annual demand estimated at $2 billion, offers room for module, inverter, and ESS package exports. Korean companies can position premium solutions in ADB- and World Bank-funded projects and use WCE consultations to meet buyers from the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).
03
Export Flood Control and Water Management Technologies
Korean early warning systems, river management expertise, and water treatment and desalination technologies are highly relevant to Bangladesh. Technologies from K-water and Korean environmental agencies can be transferred through KOICA-backed projects, while WCE's climate adaptation zone offers a practical entry platform.
04
Provide CBAM and Carbon Management Consulting
With the EU's CBAM implementation scheduled for July 2025, Bangladeshi exporters also need support for emissions measurement and carbon management. Korean MRV technologies and carbon management solutions can be introduced at WCE and positioned as consulting services for Bangladeshi companies.

ESG Management Status of Korean Companies OverseasExplore climate response strategies and ESG management implications

The climate industry is one of the defining growth sectors of the twenty-first century. Bangladesh stands on the front line of climate risk, and its annual demand for more than $5 billion in climate investment creates practical opportunities for Korean companies in solar power, ESS, disaster resilience, water resources, and carbon management. WCE 2025 is an efficient first point of contact for converting those opportunities into projects, especially through KOTRA's consultation platform that connects Korean suppliers directly with Bangladeshi institutional and corporate buyers.
