GGHK Bangladesh 2025: Halal Food & Health Exhibition Buyer Guide

Bangladesh's Halal Food Market and the GGHK Exhibition

Bangladesh represents one of the world's largest halal food markets, with a population of 170 million — 90% of whom are Muslim. The overall food market is valued at approximately USD 45 billion, and the processed food, health food, and organic segments are expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 12–15%. Rising awareness of K-Food has driven a sharp increase in demand for Korean instant noodles, confectionery, beverages, dried seaweed, and kimchi.

GGHK (Global Good Health Korea) is a Korean health food and halal food exhibition that serves as an effective platform for direct consultations with Bangladeshi food buyers and the identification of distribution partners. Obtaining halal certification is the single most critical prerequisite for entering the Bangladeshi food market; this guide outlines the certification procedures and strategies for maximizing the exhibition opportunity.

Five-Stage Halal Certification Process

Halal certification is effectively mandatory for selling food products in the Bangladeshi market. For Korean food manufacturers, certification by KMF (Korea Muslim Federation) or a recognized international halal certification body is accepted by Bangladeshi authorities.

Five-Stage Halal Certification Process
1. Select Certifying Body
KMF / JAKIM / MUI
2. Ingredient & Process Review
Exclude pork & alcohol
3. Document Application
Ingredient list & process flow
4. On-site Audit
Factory inspection
5. Certificate Issuance
Valid 1–2 years
01
Stage 1 — Selecting a Certification Body
For Korean food products, KMF (Korea Muslim Federation) offers the most accessible certification pathway and is recognized by Bangladesh's BSTI. Malaysian JAKIM and Indonesian MUI certifications are also widely accepted internationally. Select the certifying body based on intended export markets. Certification costs typically range from USD 1,000 to 5,000 per product.
02
Stage 2 — Ingredient and Manufacturing Process Review
The core requirement for halal certification is the complete exclusion of porcine-derived ingredients (gelatin, lard, etc.) and alcohol from all formulations. The provenance of food additives, flavoring agents, and emulsifiers must also be verified. Prepare an internal compliance checklist and request halal-compliant ingredient confirmation letters from all raw material suppliers.
03
Stage 3 — Application Document Preparation and Submission
Required submissions include the certification application form, a complete ingredient list (with origin and manufacturer), a manufacturing process flowchart (HACCP-based), a factory floor plan, and cleaning and sanitation procedures. Existing HACCP or ISO 22000 certification significantly streamlines the audit process.
04
Stages 4–5 — On-site Audit and Certificate Issuance (1–3 months)
A certifying body auditor conducts an on-site factory inspection to verify ingredient storage, manufacturing processes, cleaning procedures, and cross-contamination prevention measures. Upon successful completion, the halal certificate is issued with a validity period of one to two years. After certification, products may display the halal mark on packaging labels.

Bangladesh's halal food market combines strong consumer preference for K-Food with a population base large enough to generate significant commercial scale. Companies that secure halal certification and establish local distribution partnerships through GGHK and Seoul Food exhibitions are well positioned to extend their reach into adjacent markets, including Myanmar and India's northeastern states. Korean instant noodles and snack products represent the highest-probability entry point for penetrating the Bangladeshi food market at scale.
