Sonagazi 110MW Solar Project

Overview of the Sonagazi 110MW Solar Project

The Sonagazi 110MW Solar Project is a large-scale photovoltaic power station being built in Sonagazi, Feni, in Bangladesh. It is a flagship program under the Bangladesh Power Master Plan 2041, aimed at expanding the share of renewable energy.

The project is tendered by BPDB (Bangladesh Power Development Board) and can be implemented either through the IPP model or EPC contracting. Estimated annual generation is about 150 GWh, enough to supply electricity to more than 100,000 households in and around Sonagazi.

Korean Business Opportunities

01
Solar EPC Execution
Korean EPC firms can participate in design, procurement, and construction of the 110MW solar plant, leveraging references from large-scale domestic projects such as 100MW-class projects in Saemangeum and Youngam.
02
Solar Module and Inverter Exports
High-efficiency modules (Mono PERC 550W+) and inverters from firms like Korea Hanwha Q CELLS and Korean Energy Technology can be exported. A package solution that combines bifacial modules and single-axis trackers can further optimize annual yield.
03
Substation and Grid Integration
Participation is possible in civil works for 33/132kV substations and 10km transmission lines, applying LVRT and reactive power support technologies to handle solar output variability.
04
Operation and Maintenance (O&M)
Korean firms can enter into long-term O&M contracts for 25 years. Smart O&M services such as panel-cleaning robotics, drone inspections, and AI-based predictive maintenance could improve performance.
