765kV Transmission Line PGCB Project

765kV Transmission Line PGCB Project Overview

The 765kV transmission line project is a high-voltage line construction program implemented by the Bangladesh Power Grid Company Limited (PGCB). Its core objective is to upgrade the existing 230kV/400kV network to 765kV and secure high-capacity power transfer while strengthening grid stability.

Bangladesh's power demand is increasing by about 8 to 10 percent annually, and grid bottlenecks in transmission are increasingly severe as generation grows. The 765kV ultra-high-voltage corridor is therefore a strategic infrastructure step to resolve transmission bottlenecks at the system level.

Korean Participation Opportunities

01
Transmission Towers and Equipment Export
Korean firms can produce and export 765kV transmission towers (500+ units), ultra-high-voltage conductors (ACSR 4-bundle), conductors and tension hardware, and wire fittings. KEPCO's experience on domestic 765kV lines, such as Sinan-Singapyeong, is a key reference; products from Korea Cable or Daehan Cable are aligned with international standards.
02
765kV Substation EPC
Korean companies can join EPC execution for 765/400kV substations at three planned sites, including GIS, transformers, protective relays, and SCADA systems. Firms such as Korea Power Systems Industries and Korea Electric Co have competitive positions in ultra-high-voltage substation equipment.
03
Transmission Line Construction
Korean construction firms may participate in building the 200km+ corridor (foundations, tower erection, stringing). Large towers (50m+ in height) and ultra-high-voltage stringing work require specialized technical capability, and KEPCO affiliates (KEPCO KDN/KEPCO KPS) can offer technical support.
04
Grid Operations Technology Transfer
Technology transfer for EMS, grid studies, and protection coordination needed for 765kV operation is possible. KEPCO's grid operation know-how can be used to strengthen PGCB's operational capacity.
