A Digital Thread originated in manufacturing as a way to connect lifecycle data from design and production to distribution and service without interruption. KOTRA's DX Innovation Lab adapted this concept to export consultations, building a system that links data across buyer discovery, pre-meeting research, consultation, contracting, and post-meeting follow-up through a single digital thread.

Traditional export consultation events were fragmented, with each stage operating in isolation. Buyer discovery systems, consultation management tools, and performance tracking platforms ran separately, causing context to be lost and follow-up management to become inefficient. The Digital Thread integrates every step into one consistent data flow.
