Digital Thread: Digitally Transforming Export Consultations
KOTRA DX Innovation Lab Project 25 focuses on reinventing the export consultation framework through a Digital Thread model. A Digital Thread connects the entire export consultation journey, from preparation and consultation matching to meeting execution and follow-up management, through a single digital thread. This enables uninterrupted data flows and measurable performance tracking. More than 300 KOTRA export consultation events are run annually through this approach, improving both consultation efficiency and contract conversion rates.
Digital Thread Architecture
The Digital Thread connects the four stages of export consultations without interruption. All data generated at each stage is recorded in one continuous thread, allowing operators to immediately access the context created in earlier steps from any point in the process.
Data Continuity: Eliminating Fragmentation
A major weakness of conventional export consultations was data fragmentation between stages. Pre-matching results were often not shared at the consultation venue, and meeting outcomes frequently failed to carry over into follow-up management. The Digital Thread is designed to remove these breaks completely.

Application to Bangladesh Export Consultation Programs
The Digital Thread is being applied to export consultation programs organized by the KOTRA Dhaka Trade Office. In the 2024 buyer matching program, 134 Korean firms and 268 matching cases were managed through this system. From AI-based pre-matching to post-consultation follow-up, all data remained connected, supporting a higher contract conversion rate.
