Bangladesh Building Materials and Interior Exhibition Guide: Build Bangladesh 2025

Bangladesh Construction Market and the Build Bangladesh Exhibition

Bangladesh's construction market exceeds $35 billion annually, accounting for roughly 8% of GDP. Mega-city development in Dhaka (metro rail, expressways, new townships), the construction of 100 Special Economic Zones (SEZs), and surging middle-class housing demand are driving the construction sector. Annual imports of building materials exceed $8 billion, with tiles, glass, aluminum, sanitary ware, elevators, and electrical materials among the key products.

Build Bangladesh is Bangladesh's largest building materials and interior exhibition, scheduled for October 2025 at the Dhaka ICCB (International Convention City Bashundhara). Korean building materials (tiles, sanitary ware, door locks, LED lighting, interior materials) offer superior quality compared to Chinese products and better price competitiveness than European alternatives, giving them significant growth potential in the Bangladesh market.

Exhibition Participation Process

A step-by-step guide to effective participation in the Build Bangladesh exhibition for Korean companies.

Build Bangladesh Exhibition Participation Process
1. Registration
Secure booth 6 months in advance
2. Product Preparation
Samples, catalogues, and price lists
3. Buyer Matching
Pre-schedule consultations via KOTRA
4. Exhibition Operations
Local interpreter and booth demos
5. Follow-Up
Send quotations and additional samples
6. Contract Finalization
L/C or T/T negotiations
01
Stages 1–2 — Registration and Product Preparation
Booth costs are $3,000–5,000 for a 9 m² space, with 50% subsidies available for participants in the KOTRA Korean Pavilion. Bangladeshi buyers place high value on physical samples, so display actual products such as tiles and sanitary ware. Catalogues featuring both English and Bengali text are effective, and FOB/CIF price lists should be prepared in advance.
02
Stage 3 — Pre-Show Buyer Matching
Use the KOTRA Dhaka Trade Center's buyer matching service. Pre-scheduling consultations 2–3 months before the show with target buyers (construction companies, real estate developers, building material distributors, interior contractors) significantly improves efficiency during the exhibition. Buyer lists can be obtained from FBCCI (Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry) and REHAB (Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh).
03
Stage 4 — Key Exhibition Operations
Be sure to arrange a local Bengali interpreter (day rate $30–50). Bangladeshi buyers are highly interested in product demos and installation videos, so screen case study footage on a TV monitor. Since price negotiation is essential for building materials, prepare a tiered pricing structure by MOQ (minimum order quantity) in advance and also provide packing quantities per container (20ft/40ft).
04
Stages 5–6 — Follow-Up and Contract
Send quotations and additional materials to all consulted buyers within one week of the exhibition. L/C 90–120 days is the standard for Bangladesh building material transactions; for small initial orders, a T/T 30% plus balance by L/C combination is also possible. Since tariffs are 15–25%, providing a total landed cost (tariff + VAT + supplementary duty) on a CIF Chittagong basis helps buyers make purchasing decisions.

Bangladesh's construction market is positioned for long-term growth, driven by metro rail development, 100 SEZs, and middle-class housing demand. Build Bangladesh is the optimal platform for concentrating engagement with building material buyers in this vast market. Korean building materials have particular strengths in elevators, digital door locks, and eco-friendly materials, and the keys to success will be building a local distribution network and securing competitive total landed costs on a CIF basis.
