Bangladesh Agro-Food Exhibition Guide: AgroTech Bangladesh & Food Expo 2025

Bangladesh Agro-Food Market and Exhibition Overview

Bangladesh's agro-food market exceeds $60 billion annually, driven by the food demand of a 170-million-strong population and growing steadily. Agriculture accounts for roughly 12% of GDP, with rice, vegetables, seafood, and poultry as the primary production sectors. Urbanization and the expanding middle class are fueling 15%+ annual growth in processed foods, ready-to-eat meals, dairy, confectionery, and beverages — driving a sharp rise in demand for food processing machinery and packaging equipment.

AgroTech Bangladesh is a B2B trade show focused on agricultural machinery, food processing equipment, and irrigation systems, while the Dhaka International Food Expo centers on food, beverages, and food ingredients. Korean companies can participate with food processing machinery, packaging equipment, Korean processed foods (instant noodles, snacks, beverages, seaweed), and agricultural technology (smart farming, precision agriculture).

01
Stages 1–2 — Selecting the Show and Securing a Booth
For machinery exports, choose AgroTech Bangladesh (June); for food exports, choose Food Expo Dhaka (September). Participants in the KOTRA Korean Pavilion can receive 50% booth fee support, while participants in the aT (Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation) Korean Food Pavilion may qualify for full booth fee coverage. Booth costs are $2,000–4,000 for a 9 m² space.
02
Stage 3 — Product Preparation and Certification
BSTI (Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution) certification is mandatory for food exports, and Halal certification is effectively required as well. BSTI registration for Korean food products takes 2–4 months, so begin preparation at least 6 months before the show. For machinery, CE marking or ISO certification significantly improves buyer confidence. Product catalogues featuring both English and Bengali text are particularly effective.
03
Stages 4–5 — Buyer Matching and Exhibition Operations
Pre-schedule consultations with food importers (PRAN, ACI Foods, Meghna Group), agricultural machinery distributors, and food processors through the aT Dhaka Office and KOTRA Trade Center. For food products, a tasting corner is essential — Korean instant noodles, seaweed (kim), and snacks consistently receive excellent responses. For machinery, present video demos and local installation case studies.
04
Stage 6 — Post-Show Contracts and Import/Export
For initial food trades, a single 20-foot container trial shipment is standard, with payment terms typically 30% T/T plus balance by L/C. Bangladesh food distribution channels include supermarkets (Shwapno, Agora, Meena Bazar), traditional markets (kacha bazar), and online platforms (Chaldal, Pathao Food). For machinery, L/C 90–120 days is the norm; quote prices on a CIF Chittagong basis.

Bangladesh's agro-food market is positioned for sustained long-term growth, driven by the food needs of 170 million people and the ongoing trends of urbanization and middle-class expansion. AgroTech Bangladesh and Food Expo Dhaka are the optimal platforms for meeting buyers in this vast market. Korean companies hold particular strengths in instant noodles, seaweed, food processing machinery, and smart farming technology — and securing Halal certification while building local distribution partnerships will be the keys to success.
