K-Move Overseas Employment Program in Three Stages: Training, Placement, and Post-Placement Support

Overview of the K-Move Overseas Employment Program's Three-Stage Model

The K-Move overseas employment program is a government-backed placement initiative jointly operated by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, KOTRA, and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea. It follows a structured three-stage model covering pre-departure training (Stage 1), local job matching (Stage 2), and post-placement support (Stage 3). The program is designed not only to help Korean youth build careers abroad, but also to support qualified foreign talent seeking employment opportunities in Korea.

As of 2025, the K-Move program operates with an annual budget of more than KRW 50 billion and supports over 5,000 overseas placements each year through K-Move centers in 80 countries. Bangladesh has become an important source market for IT and construction talent entering the Korean job market, and the Dhaka K-Move Center delivers all three stages locally. In particular, the Stage 3 post-placement support package continues for up to two years after employment, helping improve long-term retention and settlement outcomes.

Stage 1: Pre-Departure Training Program

Stage 1 is an intensive preparation track for overseas employment. It includes Korean language training, technical skills development, cross-cultural education, and coaching on resumes and interviews over a three-to-six-month period. For Bangladeshi candidates, training is delivered locally through the Dhaka K-Move Center, and selected modules are also available online.

Stage 2 operates through two main channels: a company-matched pathway and a job fair-based pathway. In the company-matched model, the K-Move Center uses KOTRA's corporate network to recommend Korean employers on a one-to-one basis according to the applicant's skills and experience. After an initial video interview, the final interview may take place in Korea or remain online. The job fair route is structured around large-scale recruitment events such as Global Talent Fair, where candidates can interview directly with multiple employers. In both cases, the K-Move Center also assists with contract review, visa documentation, and travel arrangements.

Stage 3: Post-Placement Support Program

01
Initial Settlement Support (Months 1-3): Stabilizing Daily Life
The first three months after arrival focus on early settlement. Support covers alien registration, bank account opening, national health insurance enrollment, and housing guidance. For Bangladeshi Muslim workers, the program also provides information on halal restaurants, mosques, and community resources. K-Move assigns a mentor, often a senior foreign worker, to support early adaptation.
02
Workplace Adjustment Support (Months 3-12): Stabilizing Employment
From month 3 to month 12, participants receive regular grievance counseling. Monthly phone consultations and quarterly in-person sessions help identify issues related to working conditions, cultural friction, and pay. If serious labor law violations are confirmed, including wage arrears, abuse, or concealment of industrial accidents, the program links workers with legal support institutions.
03
Career Development Support (Months 6-24): Long-Term Growth
Stage 3 goes beyond settlement and extends into career development. Participants can access advanced Korean language classes (TOPIK Levels 4-6), technical certification support, promotion and job-change counseling, and visa renewal or status change guidance. Professional advisors also explain pathways from E-7 to F-2 residency and eventually F-5 permanent residency.
04
Return Support and Reemployment (Optional): Building a Global Career
Support can continue even after a participant returns home. The program offers local reemployment counseling, resume updates that reflect Korean work experience, and connections to the K-Move alumni network. For Bangladeshi professionals, Korean work experience can become a meaningful asset in the domestic IT and industrial sectors.

The Bangladesh K-Move program offers tailored support designed around the profile of local talent. Bangla-based Korean learning materials, intensive IT training, and practical guidance for Muslim daily life are among the most important differentiators that improve adaptation outcomes. Through MOUs with institutions such as BUET and the University of Dhaka, the program also runs regular information sessions for graduating students. It is further strengthened by mentor networks connected to the Bangladeshi community in Korea.

The K-Move program's three-stage structure functions as a full talent development system, not a simple placement service. Candidates build capabilities through training, enter better-fit roles through structured matching, and receive up to two years of follow-up support to improve settlement stability. The 82% settlement success rate highlights the practical value of this model. For Bangladeshi IT and construction professionals, K-Move remains one of the most credible and structured pathways into employment in Korea, with the Dhaka K-Move Center serving as the most practical entry point.
