Insights from the Matching Process

01
Price positioning is critical
Bangladeshi consumers typically spend only one-third to one-fifth of Korean consumers on cosmetics. Applying Korean prices without adjustment limits access to the premium segment, which represents only about 15% of the market. Smaller packaging formats (10-30ml), bundled sets, and locally adapted price points contributed to stronger matching outcomes.
02
Social media marketing improves conversion
Companies that introduced their products together with Korean social media popularity indicators, such as review volume and follower counts, recorded stronger matching performance. Bangladeshi buyers showed clear interest in using Korean market recognition as a local marketing asset.
03
Early BSTI preparation reduces lead time
Imported cosmetics in Bangladesh require BSTI (Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution) certification. Because certification can take three to six months, companies that prepare the process during the matching stage can shorten the lead time to first export.
04
Halal certification provides an advantage
In Bangladesh, where more than 90% of the population is Muslim, halal-certified cosmetics offer a strong point of differentiation. Companies holding halal certification drew greater buyer interest and also gained a platform for possible expansion into Middle Eastern markets.

K-Beauty's expansion into Bangladesh is still in its early phase. Participation by more than 15 companies and the generation of 45 matches demonstrate tangible market interest in Korean cosmetics. With a population of 172 million, a young consumer base, and continued enthusiasm for Korean content, Bangladesh presents a credible opportunity to develop into a new strategic export market for K-Beauty.
