Sylhet-Sheola Road Project Overview
The Sylhet-Sheola Road project is a border-road construction and expansion scheme linking Sylhet in northeastern Bangladesh to Sheola, a border town adjacent to India. It is designed to serve as a key overland corridor for Bangladesh-India border trade while supporting regional economic development.
Sylhet is the center of Bangladesh's tea industry and a trade gateway to India's northeastern Seven Sisters states. By upgrading the poor condition of the existing two-lane road, the project aims to expand border trade volumes and reduce logistics costs.
