SCADA Procurement Overview
SCADA, or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, is a core system for remotely monitoring and controlling infrastructure such as power, gas, and water utilities. As Bangladesh pushes ahead with grid modernization and smart grid development, demand for SCADA systems is rising sharply. This article reviews procurement trends identified through the public procurement monitoring system and outlines market entry implications for Korean IT companies.
SCADA Projects by Sector
The power sector accounts for the largest share of SCADA demand, but adoption is also expanding quickly in gas and water infrastructure. In power, PGCB is advancing nationwide transmission SCADA while BPDB and DESCO are pushing distribution automation programs. Large projects financed by multilateral institutions such as ADB and JICA remain the dominant procurement channel.
