Bangladesh ICT Exhibition Guide: Digital World 2025 & BASIS SoftExpo

Bangladesh's ICT Industry and Exhibition Landscape

Bangladesh's ICT sector generates more than USD 1.5 billion in annual exports and serves a domestic market exceeding USD 3 billion, with growth accelerating rapidly. Under the government's "Smart Bangladesh 2041" vision, software development, business process outsourcing (BPO), fintech, EdTech, and e-governance are identified as core growth engines. BASIS (Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services) counts over 1,500 member companies, and an active startup ecosystem has taken root in Dhaka.

Digital World is Bangladesh's largest ICT exhibition and conference, organized by the Ministry of ICT and held annually in November–December at the BICC (Bangladesh International Convention Centre) in Dhaka. Korean IT companies can leverage participation for software export opportunities, BPO partnerships, e-government project contracting, and startup investment.

01
Stages 1–2 — Exhibition Selection and Registration
If the primary objective is securing government ICT project contracts, Digital World (government-organized, with minister-level attendance) is the appropriate venue. For software and startup partnerships, BASIS SoftExpo is the better choice. KOTRA's Korean ICT Pavilion offers 50% booth cost subsidies; the NIA (National Information Society Agency) e-Government Korean Pavilion may provide full support. Standard booth costs are USD 2,000–4,000 for a 9 m² stand.
02
Stage 3 — Demo and Solution Preparation
Live demonstrations are the most effective presentation format at ICT exhibitions. Showcase solutions on-site — particularly e-government platforms (tax systems, national ID, land registration), ERP/MES, and cybersecurity solutions. Demos featuring a Bengali-language interface generate significantly higher buyer interest. Prepare a two-to-three-minute solution introduction video with English subtitles.
03
Stages 4–5 — B2B Matching and Exhibition Operations
Digital World features official B2B matching sessions organized by the Ministry of ICT and BIDA. Pre-book consultations with IT project officers from government agencies including a2i, BGD e-GOV, the National Board of Revenue, and the Bangladesh Police. Conference presentations substantially increase brand recognition. Korean e-government success cases — KONEPS (procurement), Gov24 (public service portal) — consistently generate strong interest from Bangladeshi government audiences.
04
Stage 6 — PoC and Partnership Agreement
Bangladesh ICT projects typically follow a pattern of proof-of-concept (PoC) pilots scaling into full commercial engagements. Target a PoC contract within three to six months of the exhibition consultation. Partnership structures include: (1) joint proposal with a local systems integrator (Brain Station 23, DataSoft); (2) technology licensing with a BASIS member company; (3) establishment of an offshore development center (ODC) after setting up in a Hi-Tech Park.

Bangladesh's ICT market is expanding rapidly across two parallel axes: government digital transformation and a private-sector startup ecosystem. Digital World and BASIS SoftExpo are the optimal platforms for accessing core buyers and partners in this market. Korean IT companies hold their strongest competitive positions in e-government, cybersecurity, and fintech collaboration — and a strategic entry combining KOICA ODA linkage with Hi-Tech Park establishment is the recommended approach.
