SPV Pumping System Procurement Overview
Bangladesh is scaling up Solar Photovoltaic Pumping (SPV Pumping) systems to modernize rural irrigation infrastructure. Compared with diesel pumps, these systems sharply reduce operating costs and eliminate direct carbon emissions, making them well aligned with the government's renewable energy agenda and agricultural productivity goals. IDCOL (Infrastructure Development Company Limited), BADC (Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation), and BREB (Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board) are the main procuring entities, and internationally funded projects remain active.
Project Pipeline and Procuring Agencies
The Bangladesh government aims to install 50,000 solar pumping systems by 2026. IDCOL runs the largest programs with funding from the World Bank, ADB, and the Green Climate Fund, while BADC is pushing separate irrigation modernization projects through the state budget.
| Procuring Agency | Project | Target Volume | Pump Capacity | Funding Source |
